As founder of the National Healthcare Law Firm, Mr. Cohen will utilize his 25+ years of healthcare law experience to better serve the community. In keeping with his vision of offering the highest quality legal services, the National Healthcare Law Firm combines values such as transparency, integrity and ethics. Mr. Cohen has strategically placed together a dynamic team of attorneys who share his vision.
The focus of Mr. Cohen's practice, background and expertise is in transactional healthcare and corporate matters, particularly as they relate to physicians, medical practices, ambulatory surgery centers and imaging centers. He is board certified by the Florida Bar as a specialist in healthcare law and has served in a variety of roles, including Associate General Counsel of the Florida Medical Association. Mr. Cohen was named "Best Health Care Attorney" in 1995 at the Sixth Annual Medical Business Healthcare Awards and was recognized by his peers in Florida Trends July 2008 issue as one of the Florida Legal Elite for 2008. Additionally, he was recently honored by the South Florida Business Journal as a Key Partner for 2011. Prior to founding the National Healthcare Law Firm, Mr. Cohen served for thirteen years as a partner in a respected law firm located in South Florida.
After years of service as a healthcare lawyer, Mr. Cohen, an AV-rated attorney, has developed a reputation for providing exceptional legal services and ethical counsel. Mr. Cohen is equally knowledgeable about contract law, corporate and employment law, and all of the specific laws and compliance regulations that relate to healthcare entities including, but not limited to, doctors, hospitals, medical staff, ambulatory surgery centers and imaging centers. These regulations include Stark, anti-kickback, fraud and abuse and HIPAA. Additionally, Mr. Cohen is a highly regarded speaker and writer, provides consultant services to the publication Medical Business, and is a member of the editorial boards for the "Tips on Managed Care Newsletter," a publication of the IPA Association of America, and Medical Economics. ;Mr. Cohen is also a certified arbitrator with the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) and shares a generous portion of his time in charitable causes.
Mr. Cohen graduated from Florida State University (B.A. cum laude, 1984) and Florida State University College of Law (J.D 1987).
Affiliations: Mr. Cohen sits as President of the Board of Directors of the Milagro Center, a tax- exempt, multicultural, arts-based after school center for children from the at risk community, located in Delray Beach, Florida (www.milagrocenter.org).
